Tropical System Intensifies

For the North Atlantic...Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico:

The National Hurricane Center is issuing advisories on Hurricane 
Epsilon, located over the west-central Atlantic Ocean.

1. Satellite, radar and surface data indicate that an area of low 
pressure located about 125 miles west-southwest of Grand Cayman 
Island continues to become better organized, and if current trends 
continue, advisories will be initiated on a tropical depression this 
afternoon or evening.  Environmental conditions are conducive for 
further development while the low drifts toward the north and 
northwest this weekend. The system could move near western Cuba on 
Monday and move across the southern Gulf of Mexico or the 
northeastern portion of the Yucatan Peninsula on Tuesday.  Interests 
in western Cuba and the Yucatan Peninsula should monitor the 
progress of this low.  A NOAA Hurricane Hunter reconnaissance 
aircraft is en route to investigate the disturbance this afternoon. 
Regardless of development, locally heavy rainfall will be possible 
over portions of the Cayman Islands, Jamaica, Cuba, and northeastern 
Yucatan through early next week.

Game day rules for UGA – UF game

The UAA released updated information for fans regarding that game in Jacksonville, which is currently scheduled to take place on Nov. 7 at 3:30 p.m. EDT.

According to the UAA release, tailgating will not be permitted for fans in the stadium parking lot. Only ticket holders will be allowed in the lots, and the areas will be closely observed for violations.

In addition to limited capacity, fans will be required to wear masks at all times except while actively eating or drinking. Fans who don’t follow these regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, the release said.

There will be signage encouraging physical distancing, such as queue-spacing indicators, as well as over 750 sanitizing stations.

All 88 gates will be open to fans, as well as all restrooms and concession stands. However, all payments at concession stands will be contactless, and paying with cash will not be permitted.

The National Hurricane Center is issuing advisories on Hurricane 
Epsilon, located over the west-central Atlantic Ocean.

1. Satellite, radar and surface data indicate that a broad area of low 
pressure located just southwest of Grand Cayman Island is gradually 
becoming better organized, with a better defined wind circulation, 
increasing thunderstorm activity and falling surface pressures since 
yesterday. Environmental conditions are conducive for further 
development, and a tropical depression is expected to form within 
the next day or so while the low drifts toward the north and 
northwest.  The system could move near western Cuba on Monday and 
move slowly across the southeastern Gulf of Mexico by Tuesday.  
Interests in western Cuba, the Florida Keys, and the Yucatan 
Peninsula should monitor the progress of this disturbance.  A NOAA 
Hurricane Hunter reconnaissance aircraft is scheduled to investigate 
the disturbance this afternoon. Regardless of development, locally 
heavy rainfall will be possible over portions of the Cayman Islands, 
Jamaica and Cuba through early next week.

🐊 VBall defeats Auburn, now 2-0

AUBURN, Ala. – The fourth-ranked Florida Gators closed out the two-match series against the Tigers with another sweep, defeating Auburn in three sets Thursday night to move to 2-0 on the year.

Picking up right where they left off last night, the Gators took the first set 25-14. The second set was a closer battle between the two squads, but Florida pulled out the 25-19 victory to go up 2-0 in the match. The Gators clinched their second victory of the season after defeating the Tigers, 25-21 in the third set.

For the North Atlantic...Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico:

The National Hurricane Center is issuing advisories on Hurricane 
Epsilon, located over the west-central Atlantic a couple of hundred 
miles northeast of Bermuda.

1. A broad area of low pressure located near Grand Cayman Island is 
producing a large area of showers and thunderstorms mainly east and 
south of the center. This system has become much better organized 
since yesterday, and a tropical depression could form during the 
next couple of days while the low moves slowly toward the northwest. 
This system is now anticipated to move near western Cuba this 
weekend and move slowly across the southeastern Gulf of Mexico by 
early next week.  Regardless of development, locally heavy rainfall 
will be possible over portions of the Cayman Islands, Cuba, 
southern Florida and the Keys, and the northwestern Bahamas through 
the weekend.

t 500 AM AST (0900 UTC), the center of Hurricane Epsilon was
located near latitude 33.1 North, longitude 61.6 West. Epsilon is
moving toward the north near 8 mph (13 km/h). A generally northward
motion with increasing forward speed is expected through early
Saturday, with an even faster motion toward the northeast later that
day.  The center of Epsilon will continue to move away from Bermuda.

Maximum sustained winds are near 85 mph (140 km/h) with higher
gusts.  Some fluctuations in strength could occur for the next day
or so before gradual weakening begins on Saturday.

Epsilon remains a large storm system.  Hurricane-force winds 
extend outward up to 15 miles (30 km) from the center and 
tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 255 miles (405 km).

The estimated minimum central pressure is 968 mb (28.59 inches).


HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND

SURF:  Large swells generated by Epsilon will affect Bermuda, the
Bahamas, the Greater Antilles, the Leeward Islands, the east coast
of the United States, and Atlantic Canada during the next few days.

🐊 Volleyball opens with victory 🐊

AUBURN, Ala. – The fourth-ranked Florida Gators started the fall portion of the 2020 season on a high note, dropping the Auburn Tigers in straight-sets on Wednesday night.
Florida took the first set in dominating fashion, winning 25-14. The Gators held all the control in the second set, taking the frame 25-14 once again and then followed with a 25-20 victory in the final set to clinch the season opener.

The National Hurricane Center is issuing advisories on Hurricane
Epsilon, located over the central Atlantic a few hundred miles
east-southeast of Bermuda.

1. A trough of low pressure extending from the southwestern to the
northwestern Caribbean Sea is producing a large area of disorganized
showers and thunderstorms. Any development of this system is
expected to be slow over the next several days as the system passes
near western or central Cuba, the Florida Straits, and the Bahamas.
Regardless of development, locally heavy rainfall is possible in
those areas and South Florida at times through the weekend.

At 200 PM AST (1800 UTC), the eye of Hurricane Epsilon was located
near latitude 29.4 North, longitude 59.7 West. Epsilon is moving
toward the west-northwest near 9 mph (15 km/h). A turn toward the
northwest is expected tonight, followed by a turn toward the north
by Thursday night. On the forecast track, the center of Epsilon is
forecast to make its closest approach to Bermuda Thursday afternoon
or evening.

An Air Force Hurricane Hunter aircraft has found that maximum
sustained winds have increased to near 110 mph (175 km/h) with
higher gusts. Some additional strengthening is possible this
afternoon, followed by little change in strength or gradual
weakening into the weekend.

Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 25 miles (35 km) from the
center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 435 miles
(705 km).

The estimated minimum central pressure is 959 mb (28.32 inches).

later today and continuing intermittently through late Thursday.

moving toward the west-northwest near 12 mph (19 km/h). A
west-northwestward motion at a slower forward speed is expected
today. A turn toward the northwest is expected tonight, followed by
a turn toward the north by Thursday night. On the forecast track,
the center of Epsilon is forecast to make its closest approach to
Bermuda Thursday afternoon or evening.

Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 90 mph (150 km/h) 
with higher gusts. Some additional strengthening is possible today, 
followed by little change in strength into the weekend. 

Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 25 miles (35 km) from the
center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 435 miles
(705 km) mainly to the north of the center.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 972 mb (28.71 inches).

Storm Epsilon, located over the central Atlantic several
hundred miles east-southeast of Bermuda.

1. A trough of low pressure, extending from the Yucatan Channel
southeastward into the southwestern Caribbean Sea, is producing
disorganized showers and thunderstorms over portions of the western
Caribbean Sea. Upper-level winds are expected to remain unfavorable
during the next several days and therefore development of this
system is not anticipated as it drifts westward during the next few
days.

At 800 PM AST (0000 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Epsilon was
located near latitude 28.2 North, longitude 56.3 West.  Epsilon is
moving toward the northwest near 13 mph (20 km/h).  This general
motion is expected to continue tonight, followed by a slightly
slower west-northwestward or northwestward motion on Wednesday and
Thursday.  On the forecast track, Epsilon is forecast to move closer
to Bermuda on Thursday and make its closest approach to the island
on Thursday night.

Maximum sustained winds are near 65 mph (110 km/h) with higher
gusts.  Strengthening is expected during the next couple of days,
and Epsilon is forecast to become a hurricane tonight or early
Wednesday.

Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 345 miles (555 km),
mainly to the north of the center.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 992 mb (29.30 inches).
