DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 1100 AM AST (1500 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Paulette was located near latitude 18.4 North, longitude 43.3 West. Paulette is moving toward the northwest near 6 mph (9 km/h). A turn toward the west-northwest or west with a slight increase in forward speed is expected during the next couple of days. Maximum sustained winds are near 65 mph (100 km/h) with higher gusts. Moderate additional strengthening is possible today and Paulette could be near hurricane strength by tonight. Gradual weakening is expected by late Wednesday. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 105 miles (165 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 995 mb (29.39 inches).
