Mike White and the Florida Men’s Basketball Team secured their first commitment of the 2020 recruiting class late Sunday night. Osayi Osifo of Eastern Florida State College committed to the Gators and adds some front court help for the next two seasons.

Osifo was reached late Sunday and shared his thoughts on the commitment, letting on that that the 6-8, 210 athletic forward is very high on the education he will get at Florida.

Great culture , the coaching staff is very much like family to each other and their players,” Osifo told Swamp247. “The academic advantages of going to UF alone are good enough for you to be glad to be a student not to (mention) being an athlete on top of that.

Gators VB defeats UGA.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The 12th-ranked Florida volleyball team fought back from a 1-0 deficit to defeat the Georgia Bulldogs in four sets on Sunday afternoon.

The Gators push their win streak to nine matches, with all nine coming at home. That mark is tied with Ole Miss for the longest streak in the SEC.

Georgia took the first set 25-22, but the Gators battled to take the second set 25-21. After trailing 17-10 in the third set, Florida battled all the way back to win the frame 25-23, then closed out the match with a 25-17 win in the fourth.

SEC Defensive Player of the Week – Florida’s Allie Gregory, a senior libero from Louisville, Ky., registered 57 digs (4.75 per set) in a 4-0 week for the Gators. In Wednesday’s 3-0 win over No. 23 Florida State, Gregory has 12 digs. She later recorded a career-high 24 digs in Saturday’s win over Louisiana.

Gators to be featured on HBO “24/7 College Football”

HBO is bringing back its landmark franchise 24/7 — a documentary series going behind the scenes, all-access look of sporting events — and the Florida Gators will be one of four teams featured.
HBO had its film crew in Gainesville for Florida’s game against Towson. HBO cameras will follow Dan Mullen, his staff and players around all week as they prepared for the Skyhawks.
Florida’s episode will kick off the series on October 2, at 10 p.m. on HBO. 24/7 COLLEGE FOOTBALL will also be available on HBO On Demand, HBO NOW, HBO GO and partners’ streaming platforms.
The four episodes in the limited series will run in consecutive weeks.

Gator VB sweeps the Noles

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The 11th-ranked Florida volleyball team earned its fourth-consecutive win in the Sunshine Showdown, sweeping No. 23 Florida State on Tuesday night in Exactech Arena.
Florida took the first set 25-21, before battling for a tightly-contest 27-25 win in the second frame. The Gators won the match after topping the Seminoles 25-14 in the final set.
As a squad, the Gators hit .322 on the night, racking up 52 kills, while limiting FSU to a .150 hitting percentage. Florida’s offensive attack was led by Thayer Hall, who registered 15 kills in the match.
Paige Hammons and Lauren Dooley pitched in 10 and nine kills, respectively to secure the victory. Rachael Kramer also added seven kills herself on the night.
Marlie Monserez once again ran the offense for the Gators, dishing out 40 assists in the three-setter.
Allie Gregory led the way with 12 digs on the evening, while Thayer Hall pitched in 11 for her double-double.
The Gators recorded five service aces during the match: two from Holly Carlton, two from Paige Hammons and one from Chanelle Hargreaves.
Florida is back in action this weekend when the squad hosts the Gators Invitational. UF faces Liberty at 12 p.m. on Friday, then takes on Northern Arizona at 7 p.m. The Gators close out the weekend with a 3:30 p.m. matchup on Saturday against Louisiana.
